1. Factors to consider.
Location of your target audience.
For Australian users, response times are approximately 300ms quicker if you opted for our Australian based hosting. Even though 300ms sounds very quick, it is noticable. The same applies to international users browsing a website hosted in Australia.
A few times a year, the hosting provider will schedule outages to perform maintenance on their servers. To limit the effect this has on your users, choose hosting that is located where your users are located. The hosting provider will typically perform maintenance during offpeak periods in their local area.
Cost
Australian hosting prices have fallen to an acceptable level for us to offer. For high traffic websites, the price difference becomes more apparent. US based hosting is cheaper for high volume sites.

How to create a subdomain using US based hosting?
Open Cpanel and got to the "Simple DNS Zone Editor". Add an "A Record" to your server's IP. There is no need to specify the fqdn, the subdomain is sufficient.
